PAPER BATTERY

 Nandhini M
5th Sem BCA, NCMS

The flexible and thin energy storage device which can be used as a battery is called as paper battery. This paper battery can also be used as a capacitor produced by merging the nano-tubes(made using carbon) and nano-composite  paper (made using cellulose)

A paper battery is designed to use a spacer formed largely of cellulose (the major constituent of paper). It incorporates nanoscopic scale structures to act as a high surface area electrodes to improve conductivity

WORKING:

The conventional rechargeable batteries which we use in our day to day life consist of various separating components which are used for producing electrons with chemical reaction of metal and electrolyte. When this paper battery is dipped in ion-based liquid, then electricity is generated by the movement of electrons from cathode terminal to anode terminal.

PRO’S:

  1. It can be used as both supercapacitor & battery.
  2. Provides a steady power
  3. Low cost and can be easily disposed
  4. It has capacity to produce 1.5v energy also rechargeable

CON’S:

  1. Prone to tearing
  2. Cost expensive and less efficiency
